Capital Tower, Cardiff, is a sleek, modern office building, home to a wide range of businesses operating in a prime location in the Welsh capital. With 24 floors, the building is the tallest in Cardiff, and has undergone a multi-million-pound refurbishment to create the ideal office environment.
As part of this refurbishment, the building owners felt that the few vacant offices needed a total overhaul, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality, in order to make them as appealing as possible for prospective tenants.
The lighting was identified as an effective way to improve the office environment throughout the building. Tamlite Lighting luminaires were specified, to create an aesthetically pleasing space, and provide a positive working environment for staff members.
Contemporary Office Design
Previously, the vacant offices at Capital Tower used suspended ceilings and panels to illuminate the space. As part of the renovation, the building owners stipulated a desire for raised ceilings and suspended luminaires, to change the style of the office. The design and fit-out was carried out by Paramount Interiors, who believe in disrupting the pre-conceived idea of a workplace whilst also providing solutions that focus on employee wellbeing.
Tamlite supplied suspended SOLO modules for a number of offices and communal spaces, making the interior feel premium and modern, which is critical for a contemporary space such as Capital Tower.
To further improve the quality of illumination in the offices, the luminaires were supplied with PIR sensors. This ensures that illumination is only provided where it is required, reducing energy consumption for Capital Tower.
Emergency lighting is a key consideration in office buildings, particularly large office blocks, to ensure that people can safely exit the building in an emergency or loss of mains power.
Tamlite was able to offer a full lighting solution, adding to the modern office scheme with critical emergency lighting.
The Tamlite luminaires at Capital Tower were supplied with integrated emergency options. These maintained emergency models provide sufficient light for people to exit the offices quickly in an emergency.
